MBBS fee Structure may Double for Private Medical Colleges
Bhopal: Fee structures of private medical colleges displayed at the time of admission may not be final, according to sources. A meeting of admission and fee regulatory committee Madhya Pradesh (AFRC) is scheduled for first week of October wherein medical fee could be doubled, according to highly placed sources.
“The current fee is being calculated as after a verbal statement by the directorate of medical education (DME) pegging cost incurred on a MBBS course by colleges at around Rs 5 lakh. The expenditure is more than double that amount,” said a consultant for private medical college.
The formula for calculation of fee for private medical college is roughly by adding 30% to the expenditure cost on a MBBS seat in a government medical college. Indications are Gandhi Medical College (GMC) expenditure on an MBBS student is around Rs 12 lakh per annum. Fee for private medical being charged at the time of admission is about Rs 5 lakh, which may double.
