Unusual Request Raises Concerns for MBBS Student Living in Shared Apartment

Concerns for MBBS Student

In a perplexing turn of events, a man named Sachin, an MBBS student residing in a 3 BHK apartment with two roommates in the National Capital Region (NCR), sought advice from fellow users on the platform X. Sachin shared his predicament after receiving an unexpected request from his landlady regarding her daughter.

The landlady contacted Sachin, revealing that her daughter was gearing up for the NEET exam and intended to enroll in the same private college where Sachin was studying. Astonishingly, she informed Sachin that her daughter would be residing in their flat with him and his roommates.

Sachin took to X to express his dilemma, posting, ”My flat owner messaged me that her daughter is appearing for NEET exam this year. She is not that good in studies and her physics is also very weak, so she will take admission in our college (Private). She will live with me. What should I do? Should I ask her to decrease my rent?”

In a subsequent tweet, Sachin disclosed that the landlady insisted on her daughter having a separate room within the same flat. He mentioned, ”She trusts me a lot. I wouldn’t be lying if I said she trusts me more than her son.”

The online community responded with disbelief, with the majority advising Sachin against entertaining the landlady’s unusual request. Suggestions ranged from negotiating a rent reduction to expressing concerns about the safety and dynamics of a woman sharing a flat with three male occupants.

One user proposed, ”Yes, obviously she needs to decrease the rent by half at least, ’cause if you had a roommate, they’d be paying half, right?”

Another cautioned, ”If you are male and she is female, it makes matters worse. The whole thing is fishy. Just don’t budge. Leave the place the minute she takes admission.”

Various concerns were raised about potential adjustments in living habits, safety implications, and the potential for false accusations. Some users questioned the landlady’s decision to send her daughter to live with three men in a flat without considering safety concerns, particularly in the context of India.

The situation has sparked a lively online discussion, with many urging Sachin to carefully consider the implications before making any decisions regarding his living arrangements.
